The Newberry Lofts in Downtown Long Beach represent the transformation of the former J.J. Newberry store, a retail shopping landmark in the city for almost five decades. Constructed in 1951, the store served the public until its closure in 1994. In 2016, local Long Beach architects Interstices, Inc completed the adaptation of the building into the Newberry Lofts. This mixed-use, 4-story mid-rise structure features 18 loft units for sale, 10 penthouses, and 6,500 square feet of retail space on the lower floor.
